I try to picture my bright spots by creating reminders around my house that I want to share. I realize every now and then that I am focusing on the wrong things and need reminders to focus on my bright spots or blessings. For example, recently I created a picture frame that helps me refocus.
I put my favorite family photo at the center. It could be a photo of your pet or just you! I surrounded it with a large matt that I write on. I purposely left the glass off of this frame so I could add things to it as I think of them. I wrote things I have in my life that I call bright spots or blessings, things such as family, friends, neighbors, parks, sunsets, block parties, books, pets, etc. things (these are mostly not “what” but “who”) that I am grateful for in my life.
One of my favorite entries is from my daughter’s friend, Colleen, who one day wrote herself in. She is a write-in and we are happy about that!
I decided to hang it next to our side door. This way it is a constant reminder for not just me, but my whole family. It is the door we use all the time and I hope it reminds all of us to focus on our bright spots.
