Happy Go Lucky Pets

The other night I went out for drinks with some girlfriends from work. We need to do that occasionally because we all have stressful jobs and need to feel a part of a team. The best way I know how to build that team is to have fun outside of work. Honestly, I just do my job better knowing I am part of a team.

We spent the majority of our hour and a half talking about our pets and how much we love them, need them, enjoy them and know how much our pets add to our lives. I only know about dogs. I have had four dogs in my life, all with very different personalities. I had a German Shepherd that was razor sharp, a slightly crazy Springer Spaniel, an anti-social Wheaten Terrier and currently the most loving Cockapoo, Lucy.

Three of these friends are soon getting new dogs to add to their families. All of us agreed that they are family members. I could never imagine my husband having this conversation! However, two years after coming home I see her working her way to secure her place in his heart. I am also pretty sure I would not see both of my kids as often without the lure of time with Lucy.

I cannot recommend a pet enough to bring joy to your life. Not only are they wonderful companions but you will find yourself with more opportunities to be active, get outside more, see your neighbors, be entertained and unconditionally loved. In addition, science says it’s good for your stress levels, your heart and even can detect cancer. Pet owners are 15% less likely to suffer from high blood pressure than people who don’t own pets, according to research at the State University of New York at Buffalo.
