I was weeding in my garden, and it made me think about something. The rose bush I was pruning was struggling to flourish; there were just too many blooms and it was too crowded. Then I noticed the another rose bush with a single bloom that was stunning.
This reminded me of an encounter with some friends last month. I wondered why I did not feel great after spending time with them. I felt depleted, not energized. I discussed this with a friend who said to me, they do not appreciate your energy; be careful who you share it with.
I understand what she was trying to convey to me: we don’t have unlimited energy. Sometimes you must let go of those draining friendships that are not re-energizing you, or you may not leave yourself with enough resources to nurture a relationship that can blossom and bring good energy to you.
Don’t squander your energy, remember to use it wisely on those who appreciate your friendship and return the positive energy back to you.
